Another Bat in the Cave

With D.C.introducing us to an all new Batman, Robin, and Red Robin in June, it was actually a surprise when I heard there will also be a new Batgirl.

batgirl1cvrblog

In August there will be an whole new Batgirl series starring an all new Batgirl. The current Batgirl is Cassandra Cain, who is one of the most skilled martial arts experts in the D.C. universe. It is not known what will happen to her character. There is already a lot of chatter about who the new Batgirl might be.

Ok so here are some of the possible candidates:

1. Barbara Gordon (Oracle) out of her wheelchair which I seriously doubt.[ aww..squeaky wheels]

2. Betty Kane (the original Bat-Girl) who goes by Flamebird right now.

3. Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe (Misfit) who once went by Batgirl but only for a very short time.

4. Stephanie Brown (The Spoiler) is young crime fighter who has helped Batman and Robin out many times, and even took over the mantle of Robin for a short time.

5. Helena Bertinelli (The Huntress) has worked closely with the Bat Family for years and even had the title of Batgirl until Batman stripped her of it. (whhink)

I can’t wait ’till August to see who will step into the role of Batgirl, I have always been a huge fan of Batman’s inner circle. With all the new bat titles and story-lines coming out I think I should be able to wait. If you are fan of the ladies of Gotham then this June definitely check out Gotham City Sirens #1 and Detective Comics #854.

Ordering the Stick

Hey there and hello from your friendly, hulkitudinous windiebird once again! I’ve been on hiatus, do not judge.

Anywho I thought I’d come back with something we haven’t covered here yet! Webcomics!

The particular webcomic I felt the need to share with you today, The Order of the Stick, is pure genius. There are a veritable menagerie of really innovative web-based comic series out there but none stand higher (in my opinion) than Rich Burlew’s homage to the D&D set.

Non-RPGers will find themselves laughing right along with the rest of us because Mr. Burlew is a modern, undiscovered god of dialogue. Seriously, give the man a TV series and we’d have the next Buffy on our hands.

His characters are diverse, unique, intelligently crafted & perfectly executed. Not to mention stretched to their breaking point (you just make your own joke, mama’s tired) time and time again with his brilliant story arcs. Set in a typical D&D campaign, these brave adventurers set out for loot & conquest! Just like any great story, they find that and so much more. Love, pain, betrayal, redemption…I could go on but I think you’re feeling the enthusiasm.

You might need a D&D nerd to help you with a few of the in-jokes but trust in the fact that you’ll be yearning for the very next installment after every page.

Which is refreshing when you take a look at the arguably low-quality works that increasingly flood the mass-market.

Remember to always keep an eye out for independent comics and comic mediums. Evolution is necessary to life just as much as it’s necessary to art!

This is one link you won’t want to miss out on.

Iron Boy?

I love Iron Man.

Tony Stark is the kinda badboy/badass/assbandit that I want on my team!  He’s self depricating,  smart, rich, and an alcoholic, so at some point he would probably be drunk enough to sleep with me just about anything with a pulse .  Yes, I too would like to be a Pepper.

It kinda helps that Robert go down Downey Jr. starred as the Vodka hottie in the film adaptation, but aside from that the character is quite the Anti-Hero.

And why does that anit-matter? you ask.  Well Iron Man: Armored Adventures is why.

iron

When you take the anit-hero out of the hero, then you have another lame show about some kid. Now I realize it’s brought to us by NickToons and the letters B & S, but from what I’ve seen, the creators have stripped the very essence of what makes Stark Iron Man and replaced it with a cartoon version of something you’d see on the CW. And poor poor Pepper Potts. Can someone shut her up.

Mutant A Day

“S” is for Star Fire

WAAAAY back somewhere in like the second post, Mutant A Day featured Teen Titan’s Cyborg.  We thought to ourselves, why is it that we didn’t feature anyone else from said team.  Especially the hawt and usually naked Koriand’r or Starfire [if ya nasty].

Koriand’r is a princess of the planet Tamaran in the fictional Vegan system, and was in line to rule the planet as Queen. Komand’r (“commander”, also known as Blackfire), her older sister, developed a bitter rivalry with her after suffering a disease in infancy that robbed her of the ability to harness solar energy to allow her to fly, and by extension, her right to the throne.

As the apple of Robin’s eye, StarFire hold’s her own, strong as an ox with the a mouth of a sailor and the body…well of a female sailor.  I guess you’d have to be with a bitch of a sister trying to kill you. TITANS GO!
