Hank McCoy, a double-mutant in some respects, is one of the most talented minds in the Marvel universe inside one of the most instantly recognizable bodies. More notably a founding member of the X-Men, Hank (codenamed Beast) has also served time with the the Avengers, the Defenders, X-Factor and is currently again with the X-Men. His mutant abilities include, superhuman strength, agility & reflexes as well as heightened senses and a powerful dark side. He’s largely responsible for an effective anti-virus being created during the Legacy virus crisis. His mutation has further advanced twice in his existence thus far, the first instance giving him blue fur and enhanced abilities (in bed) and the second occurrence giving him more feline features and even greater abilities (at sex), including an accelerated healing factor.
Ever a symbol for the struggle between the darker and lighter aspects of human existence, it’s no wonder he’s been such a popular mainstay of the Marvel universe. He’s an activist for justice in every sense, hoping to bring humans and mutants together peacefully. I hear he also has some pretty useful pheromone powers, if you know what I mean.
And who wouldn’t want to know a genius they could pet? Just me then? Well alright.

More Comic Con Fun for your viewing pleasure!
Smack in the middle of summer, Mutant A Day wouldn’t be caught without its yearly over dose of the Dallas Comic Con at the Richardson Civic Center! While there we met artist Brandon Peterson of Uncanny and Ultimate X-Men as well as Witchblade hottie, Yancy Butler!
The most exciting part of our venture was catching up with Richard, Joe and Keli from Zeus Comics to talk about their new web series The Variants which you can catch on their Youtube site!

It makes our nether-regions shed a tear [whiink] of joy for this comic-nerd centric show about a group of comic-shop clerks and the daily grind[s] that come with it. Check out the interview!
We look forward to the new episodes and are lucky to have some home town super heroes who’ll bring the funny along with excellent customer service!

The 99 is a comic book published by Teshkeel Comics, featuring a team of superheroes based on Islamic culture and religion.

Ok, so I think The 99 is good. It’s hard not to compare it to Marvel and DC comics. That’s just me being an arrogant American.
Titles like X-Men, The Hulk, X Factor, Young Avengers, Teen Titans etc. that deal with more progressive topics that are inclusive of all peoples whether it be by race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation etc.,do their part to push the limits and be progressive. Teshkeel Comics, publisher of The 99 still has a lot of catching up to do.
With a tendency to think that some places in the world are a decade behind where the US stands [pop culturally] and though 50% of the states are pretty conservative, liberal thoughts are nothing new and the US is constantly going through culture wars of liberal vs. conservative.
Back to 99 though. It’s great that the message of peace is the focus. The art is alright [the cover art is better] and though it starts off in a very Captain Planet kind of way, by introducing multi-ethnic young adults that will inevitably receive one of the Sonic the Hedgehog like noor stones and gain some religiously magic power to help save the world, this is a comic I would probably have loved as a kid and teen.
Actually, It may grow on me.
I would hope the evolution of it might become bigger than the peace theme and that the characters [seemingly all 99 of them] would have story lines that are larger than the powers they are going to gain. I would like to see someone subversive beyond that of shooting rainbows out of their arse, not that that has happened.
