Because we can’t wait for Comicon in January, Here’s a little eye candy from artist Adam Hughes who will be in attendance!
At Mutant A Day we love men [women too..] but you better freak’n believe we love men! And we also love to show it…[whiiiink!]
However, if we just spent our time giving you pics of hotties with hairy chests [fictional or otherwise] we may, in fact, have to quit our day jobs.
Luckily for us there are sites like Shirtless Superheroes & french site Chest of Chests to satisfy our necessity for non-sapphic satisfaction!

Direct from SciFi Wire, it appears as if casting calls have been opened for a rapidly developing Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Eight motion comic! If you aren’t as excited about this bit of news as I am, you obviously need to buy some KY and get cracking.
As mentioned on the podcast, we love an animated comic. You get the art of the original source with some action and vocal flair added to bring it all to life. After being first impressed with the Watchmen motion comic and now the Spider-Woman and Astonishing X-Men productions, I am absolutely vibrating with antici…pation. I’d love to see Nathan Fillion and Lucy Lawless make vocal appearances in some way or another but new talent always needs a chance to shine. And Anthony Stewart Head will always be the only Giles to me. Who would you want to play whom in the motion comic?
Thanks for being a friend (with benefits) to the comics world, Joss <3

Seriously, this woman is amazing. I could just make a joke about how gorgeous she is or how she could use those knockers to open my door anytime but this woman is so much more than a beautiful face. Her humanitarian efforts with the United Nations High Council Commissioner (Gordon) for Refugees as well as her efforts and statements concerning many aspects of social equality and justice instantly place her as one of my favorite modern actresses. She’s a vocal supporter of gay rights (and human rights, importantly) even choosing a domestic partnership with her spouse, Brad Pitt. Her more famous comic-related movies are Tomb Raider, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Beowulf & Kung Fu Panda. If you haven’t seen A Mighty Heart, then you just get yourself to Netflix pronto, buster. Angelina, I think you’re fantastic.

What can be said about our featured villain this week? Four eyes, two (three? or four?) heads, six fingers and all the Avian knowledge of culture and warfare. He most notably tried to have Bruce Banner fix the city of his extinct masters after seeing Harpy (Betty Ross stopped shaving for a few weeks) on the wing. Besides his combat knowledge, his android body grants him increased strength, reflexes and durability. Bi-Beast, we salute you. You know, twice.

Spider-Man Archives was recently released at the end of October by Rittenhouse. I was curious to see the artwork on these cards since the Fantastic Four Archives were pretty shitty crappy. I just picked up a pack today and surprisingly the art is good and they resemble the X-Men Archives and Women of Marvel cards which both were great. Although I am not a huge Spider-Man fan I would definitely recommend picking up this set of cards. And as an added bonus, one of Mutant a Day’s favorite artist, Cat Staggs has done some excellent sketch cards for the series as well! She is indeed an art goddess!

Who was voted worlds sexiest Vegetarian in 2006? Kristen Bell of Course! Before Bell landed her break out role on Veronica Mars she actually auditioned for the part of Chloe on Smallville, which of course Allison Mack portrays. After Veronica Mars ended she took on the role of the electrifying Elle on Heroes. Bell has creeped into our geeky hearts starring in Fan Boys and is currently the voice of Cora in Astro Boy.

She not only is friend to the comic world she also has many charitable causes she supports. She is very involved in the organization Invisible Children Inc. which helps raise awareness about Northern Ugandans caught in the middle of a civil war. Kristen Bell is a friend to the animals and the GLBT community, all of which makes her MaD’s hottie of the week!

Rogue has the ability to absorb a persons psyche or in case of mutants, their abilities. Her real name, Miss Anna Marie, was not revealed for more than 20 years after her in first appearance. Though an alum of the X-Men’s blue team, this sassy southern gal was not always considered a hero. She was originally introduced as a villain in Avengers Annual #10.
Rogue ran away at an early age and was adopted by the Villain Mystique who took her in and talked her into becoming part of her Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. She gained her amazing strength and flight from Ms. Marvel who was put in a coma after Rogue had absorbed her energy for too long duing battle. Rogue’s head was being filled with voices of people she absorbed and Ms. Marvels personality would sometimes take over.
With this driving Rogue to insanity, she turned to Professor Charles Xavier for help and joined the ranks of the X-Men.
Hers powers have changed throughout the years but now she just possesses her original absorption ability. Rogue’s powers have always prevented her from becoming physically close with anybody until recently as she has learned to control her absorbtion abilites. Not only does Rogue not have the sex life of a nun anymore [unless she pulls a Sister Act] she has also become the leader of her own team in X-Men Legacy. It’s no surprise she is a fan favorite and is in almost every incarnation of the X-Men.
