Chronicled

DC Comics has created an affordable way to read about your favorite heroes from the beginning and in order. They started with Batman in 2005 with Batman Chronicles Vol. 1, collecting Detective Comics #’s 27-38 and Batman #1. Then Superman, Green Lantern, and The Flash all have been given their own Chronicles as well.

Finally in 2010 the Trinity will be complete in March when they release Wonder Woman Chronicles.

Each volume is about $15 which is pretty reasonable and their size makes them convenient to take on the go.

Hopefully they will continue with these Chronicles and maybe we will see more members of the Justice League step into the spotlight.

MaD Birthdays: Stan Lee

Today is Mr. Lee’s [Stan if ya nasty] 87th Birthday!

A marvel in his own right, Stan Lee was president of Marvel comics and has since become the true face of said comic empire.

With hundreds and hundreds of works produced within comics, movies and video games, Lee is an astounding man and one of our favorite people on the planet!

Happy Birthday from all of us at Mutant A Day!

Head of the Class!

While at the premiere of Avatar Bryan Singer revealed he has signed on with 20th Century Fox to direct X-Men Origins:First Class. The film will be based off the comic book X-Men: First Class which focused on the original X-Men Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Iceman and Angel.

This is amazing news I am all for Bryan Singer’s return to the X-Men franchise.  If this is tied into the previous films there are questions wether we will see Iceman or Angel.
I am hoping this is not the case because I love both characters.  At least we will see an all new younger cast so it should be interesting to see who they cast.  Heres hoping for another great X-Men movie!

Ace in the Hole!

What member of the Justice League is a descendant of Nostradamus, Leonardo Da Vinci, and alchemist Nicholas Flamel? Our Mutant of the week! Zatanna!

Private Commission by Cat Staggs

Like a virgin mutant, Zatanna Zatara’s powers are genetic.  Usually she casts her spells by speaking backwards but there has been occurrences when she has cast spells without speaking a word.  From 1978-1982 her powers were limited to the four elements but now she is one the most powerful magic users in the DC Universe!
When she is not saving the world with the Justice League she performs as a stage magician.  Her father, John, was also a stage magician and possessed the same powers as Zatanna.  Not only was she childhood friends with Bruce Wayne but her father taught him how to be an escape artist.  She has a really close relationship with Batman but since he is not able to give her the “relationship” she needs they remain close friends.  She has also appeared in the pages of Vertigo’s Hellblazer as John Constantine’s love interest.
You can currently see Zatanna in the pages of Justice League and for a great story arc that features her, check out Identity Crisis!

Tokidoki ^_~

Tokidoki the Japanese inspired company teams up with Marvel to make some uber cute apparel.

Tokidoki was created by Italian artist Simone Legno who has done some amazing collaborations with Hello Kitty, Smashbox, and ipod.  You can purchase a Tokidoki x Marvel t-shirt for $28, a hoodie for $65, and a Hat for $35.  These prices are not too bad, this seems like the normal price you would pay for a t-shirt or hoodie at the mall.  These adorable products will be released in February 2010, which these would make a great Valentines gift.
