Looking Forward: Wednesday!

This Wednesday is not only new comicbook day but IT’S NEW EVERYTHING DAY!

Tomorrow, X-Men Second Coming #1 hits stores!

Marvel.com

We have all been waiting for what is to be the start something amazing [we Hope].  There will be an abundance of tie-ins & though we might have seen some of these story elements before (this has NEVER happened to Kitty Pryde, promise), Uncanny #522 sold me on the set-up. Bookmark our handy checklist so you don’t miss an issue!

Also if you are a Tokidoki art/clothing/design fan, Zeus comics [see the sidebar for a link] has a plethora of shirts on sale tomorrow!

Last but not least Blackest Night #8 will also go on sale!

DCcomics.com

The rainbow coalition of shiny emotions is finally reaching its conclusion tomorrow! While we don’t know if any of the Lanterns will be wearing White after labor day, we do expect this to be one hell of an epic boss fight. With all of this promise of good tidings &  hope from both of the big publishers, I can’t help but feel a swell (downtown) of anticipation.

This is going to be a Wednesday to remember, Easter comes early!

Whats Weight S’got To Do With It?

Angela Bassett has been cast in The Green Lantern Movie as Amanda Waller.

Angela Bassett is amazing, but physically she is too small to play Amanda Waller. I was expecting someone with a bit more curves such as Monique. Her acting ability is not to be questioned and there is no doubt she will portray her persona perfectly. I’m just wondering if she is willing to gain weight for the role or wear some kind of padding to portray the character more accurately. I’m looking forward to seeing the Green Lantern Movie, hopefully we will see a bigger Bassett on the big screen.

Still Carrying That Torch; Captain America

Apparently Chris Evans, a-la Fantastic Four 1 & 2  has accepted the role as one Miss Captain America. I’m sure comic enthusiasts may see this as something that is flat out ridiculous. Some may see it as fantastic, and I’m sure a lot of our following of the homosexual order are thrilled to see this hunk playing the all American hero.

I assure you readers, this homo, has no tolerance for one actor playing a different title character in the same comic universe. Line me up with the other super nerd army who cares about comic continuity and the like. Abs and pecs won’t make up for this folly, Fantastic or not.

Artist Watch: Julius Santiago aka King Pan Pan!

Here at MaD we love us some BEARS! It’s no surprise that our bear lovin’ spans over into the art world! Julius Santiago is a graphic designer and illustrator who has taken on the project of creating a bear a day for all of 2010! It makes us all hot and bothered! Check out some of his comic related teddys!

Check out KingPanPan.com to check out more of Mr. Santiago’s cute and cuddley project!

Logan in a Spider’s Web

We aren’t exactly too thrilled with the remakes or premakes for that matter, of the Spider Man flicks. They truly rival the Japanese Spiderman show. [soooo goood]

However if you saw the Percy Jackson movie, you know that Logan Lerman is a very able actor [18 year of age and legal] as well as a less-pretty, more like-able guys guy-ish version of Zach Efron. [still pretty though].

So the rumor mill says that he will play Peter Parker in the next Spidey flick which will set him in college. Wait isn’t that how Spiderman 1 started? Im confuzzled. From the looks of the photo he seems to have his Spidey Jump down. He just needs to make sure he’s always locked and loaded to ‘shoot’ at a moments notice! I wonder if the first villain will be “THE FLUFFER”!

X-Foliation of Husk

Husk has the ability to remove – or “husk” – one layer of skin revealing an epidermis of a different composition beneath. She often changes into metal or stone form, but can shift into a variety of substances.

Art by Chris Bachalo

As a member of the X-Men’s 1990s-era junior team Generation X, she established herself as an overachiever. She later joined the X-Men.

Husk was created by Fabian Nicieza and Tony Daniel but Generation X creators Scott Lobdell and Chris Bachalo defined much of her character and abilities. Southern as we can be sometimes at Mutant A Day, we don’t mind a little hayseed in our vegitarian cookies!

With about half of the catalog IDs out for what could be one of the most exciting x-events ever, I thought I’d share with you the checklist and the links to each month’s issues & tie-ins. The tie-ins that aren’t officially listed as a chapter are in double parentheses. We’ll be updating the links as the solicits are released. X-celsior!

A Who’s-Hu at Austin Comicon!

The Lovely Kelly Hu has been announced as the second celebrity guest for the Austin Wizard World Comicon.

Photograph by Jonathan Skow - Esquire

You may recognize Kelly Hu from her role as Lady Deathstrike from the movie X2: X-Men United.  Hu also won the role of The Sorceress opposite Dwayne Johnson in the movie The Scorpion King.  She is the voice of Sha Shan Nguyen in The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series as well.

Ms. Hu will also be appearing at the Anaheim Wizard World Comicon.  Now if only the other other Adamantium boned [whink] star of X2 would come to the Austin Comicon.
