Buffy Stakes Her way Into Dark Horse’s Heart in 2011!

Dark Horse Comics announced at NYCC that for Buffy Season 9, Angel and Spike will receive their own series.  I like the idea of three Buffy titles each month.  In other Whedon news a Dollhouse comic miniseries will be launching in 2011, which will take place in the Epitaph future storyline.  The miniseries will be written by writers from the television show, I just hope Dollhouse translates into comic book form well.

Austin Gets Spiked!

grrr...arrrggg

The Austin Wizard World Comicon has announced James Marsters as their first celebrity guest.

Marsters played the role of the oh-so-sexy vampire Spike on television shows Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.

Marsters will also be appearing at the Philadelphia and Chicago Wizard World Comicons.  I can’t wait to see who else will be appearing at the Austin Comicon!

Revelations: Book 5 of 5

Last week the 5th & final book of Angel:Revelations came out of the closet!  The ending to Warren Worthington III’s school days with lots o’ drama. MAJOR SPOILER ALERT!

So post creepy-man-baddy-using-the-little-girl-with-mutant-finding-abilities-to-find-Warren’s-school, Warren got rid of the ‘touch-my-no-no-zone’ Priest there by saving resident underdog homo and BFF Andrew from any further abuse!

After Warren’s Angelic Avenging, it was time for a stand off with THE CRAZY BIBLE THUMPING, no doubt republican/McCain/Pailin/Bush supporting GUN WIELDING guy!  During break, (and since Warren, Andrew, ‘The Jock’ and Warren’s Ex-Gf are still there) a fire breaks out and it is up to Warren to save everyone from the fire and from the hell storm that the crazy guy is bringing. He flies up and grabs his gun, which he (in true red neck fashion) does not let go of until-YOU GUESSED IT-he is 100s of feet above the ground. So he falls to his doom.

DESERVES IT! (but Warren felt bad)

So, of course he saves everyone also giving away his secret mutation (wings, not just a TV show) and we are left with a stronger more focused Warren who sets out to be a true hero!

As far as individual series go for the X-Men (Gambit, Storm, Bishop etc.) Angel has FIVE STAR-ed its way into my heart.

I decided to include pics (it would be a crime not to!) of Ben Foster, who starred as Angel in the X-Men movies.  Now, being a fan of Foster from wayyyy back (Flash Forward! Hello, Jewel Staite. Look for an entry on her time on FireFly soon!) I wasn’t too sure about him as Angel. After seeing the movie, I think he really embodied the mentality of the character.

Enjoy!

The High Flying Angel!

I know it’s the same day but I am just so proud EXCITED to post all of these hot men heroes that have been on the back burner here at the Mutant A Day™ living room headquarters!

Today is all about Warren Worthington III also known as Angel from the X-Men.  Currently Angel has his own mini-series called Angel: Revelations which is a FIVE, count em’, FIVE part mini-series about Warren in his prep-school days and his mutant ability coming to fruition at the height of his popularity.

If you haven’t kept up, go out and get the back issues! SPOILER ALERT!

Revelations

Warren in Angel:Revelations

After Warren’s  wings come out of the closet his back and he learns to fly, he soon realizes that his gay best friend Andrew (who happens to be in love with him) is being fondled by the resident catholic priest spiritual advisor.

No, Warren isn’t a mo’ in this series, but his open mindedness of Andrew’s assumed obvious homosexuality and his willingness to do whatever it takes to keep him safe against bullies, priests and school fires is refreshing on Marvel’s part. Big PROPS to Writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Artist Adam Pollina for creating a story that rocks and art that feels like mutant-couture.

It’s orgazzzzmic!
