Hero/Hottie of The Week: Ben Cohen [Stands Up!]

Retired Rugby World Cup winner and chairman of the non profit orginization, The StandUp Foundation, Ben Cohen will be joining Dallas’ rugby team the Diablos for “Stand Up Against Bullying Week” and other Pride events this weekend. Having such a mainstream heterosexual athlete who has come from a straight dominated sport not only stand up, but found a non profit organization that stands up for the benefit of the LGBT community, is truly inspiring.

As an LGBT blog the gang at Mutant A Day looks for super heroes everywhere we go, and we are proud and pleased to know that we have found a hero and ally in Ben Cohen!

MaD’s Triple H: Peter Sarsgaard

Our hottie of the week is one Mr. Peter Sarsgaard, first brought to my attention in An Education but famously known for his work on Boys Don’t Cry, Shattered Glass & Garden State. While gruff, tough and unfortunately into muff, I’m very excited to see him fill the role of Hector Hammond in the upcoming Green Lantern film.

What he’ll lack in sexy, I’m sure he’ll make up for in raw forehead? Forehead and great acting! It’s sure to be a wild ride with him filling those crazy shoes. Can’t wait to see what his eclectic and impressive resume can bring to the role and the movie in general!

MaD’s triple H: Kerry Washington

Our MAD Hottie of the week is a friend to the GLBT community, has portrayed a lesbian business woman and a transsexual.  I am talking about none other then the beautiful Kerry Washington.

You might recognize her from such films as Ray, Save the Last Dance, She Hates Me and Life is Hot in Cracktown.  She has two comic book roles under her belt, first as Ben Grimm’s love interest Alicia Masters in Fantastic Four.  The second being lending her voice as Princess Shuri in the Black Panther Animated Series.
Not only is Kerry Washington gorgeous but a talented actress who is very versatile in her performances.  This is why she is the Mad Hottie of the Week!

MAD HEROES HELLIONS AND HOTTIES

Who was voted worlds sexiest Vegetarian in 2006? Kristen Bell of Course!  Before Bell landed her break out role on Veronica Mars she actually auditioned for the part of Chloe on Smallville, which of course Allison Mack portrays.  After Veronica Mars ended she took on the role of the electrifying Elle on Heroes.  Bell has creeped into our geeky hearts starring in Fan Boys and is currently the voice of Cora in Astro Boy.

She not only is friend to the comic world she also has many charitable causes she supports.  She is very involved in the organization Invisible Children Inc. which helps raise awareness about Northern Ugandans caught in the middle of a civil war.  Kristen Bell is a friend to the animals and the GLBT community, all of which makes her MaD’s hottie of the week!

Over the decades Robert Downey Jr. has had his ups and downs in his personal life, and the media has scrutinized and praised him just the same on the silver screen.

Nothing short of an amazing actor, Downey brought Marvel’s Iron Man to life in 2008, easily being the best made, most exciting Marvel movie to date we can’t wait for Iron Man 2 and the Avengers movie to follow! Surely the one to measure future comic movies against!  His suave demeanor, devilish smirk and dark dreamy eyes will pierce your soul and make you want him to pierce other things!
