Marvel Puts Runaways in the Corner Again!

According to Deadline.com Marvel is putting the Runaways movie on hold, so they can focus on their current and upcoming films. This would include films such as the Avengers, Iron Man 3, Thor, and Captain America. Deadline says that director Peter Sollett has been invited to direct another film first before he takes on Runaways.
I understand that those are big movies and it’s a lot to take on, but this news worries me. Many times when movies are put on hold they end up never being made. Hopefully Marvel will deliver Runaways to us in some form whether it be comic, movie, or animated movie.

SDCC Assemble!
San Diego Comic Con has delivered some more amazing news, so here are some more SDCC updates. The big news that’s got every one talking is two more Avengers have been cast, Mark Ruffalo has been officially been cast as the Hulk and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.

In Smallville news both Blue Beetle and Booster Gold will be appearing in episodes, according to Geoff Johns. Also Smallville’s Chloe Sullivan will be making her debut comic book appearance in Action Comics #893.
In animation news, Young Justice comic book writer Peter David will be writing some episodes of the Young Justice animated series. It also has been revealed that Superman and Wonder Woman will be appearing on upcoming episodes of Batman The Brave and the Bold. If that wasn’t cool enough there is also going to be a new animated Batman series.
In video game news more characters have been revealed that will appear in Marvel Vs Capcom 3. Among several returning characters it has been revealed Thor, Okami, Super Skrull, and Trish from Devil May Cry are among some of the playable characters.
In comic news Wildstorm will be releasing a God of War comic book. Also Grant Morrison revealed in Batman Inc. the silver age Kathy Kane will make an appearance. Finally my favorite news, the Runaways will be making more appearances in the Marvel universe, which will ultimately lead to something big. Hopefully this will lead to another series.

Runaways’ rumor mill
Recently there have been a lot of rumors floating around that Runaways might get canceled. Issue # 14 has just been released but if you check the Marvel website there is no issue #15 scheduled for October or any month after. Marvel has announced that Runaways will be on hiatus until the summer of 2010. In light dark of the economy, comic sales have been gradually slipping however trade sales have remained high.
The good news is that there are rumors of a possible movie to start production in the near future. With such an endeavor at hand I doubt we will see the end of our tireless Runaways.
Runaways “Home Schooled” will be released in November, collecting Issues #11-14 plus a What If story. Who know what the future holds for the Runaways but I hope this is not the last we see of them.

Asiatic Army of One
Nico Minoru (aka Sister Grimm) is currently the leader of the super powered group The Runaways.
She is a Japanese-American gothic Vixen who wields the power of sorcerery. Like the other runaways her parents were part of the super villian group The Pride.
Nico is able to tap into her power by using The Staff of One, which is an ancient staff that once belonged to her mother and now belongs to her. The only way for Nico to summon the Staff of One is by making herself bleed [down there..for real though] which then the staff pops out of her chest.
She does have some limitations though, she can only cast a spell once and she can’t bring the dead back to life. If she trys to cast a spell more than once it will backfire and something random will happen. She will be featured in a new upcoming storyline in which the new Sorceror Supreme of the marvel universe will be chosen.
It’ll be BLOODY BRILLIANT!

Here at Mutant A Day we have lots lined up in the coming [on your face] months. We however have not forgotten the founding purpose of the site. To talk about a mutant a day.
That obviously isnt happening as much as we would like as we have expanded down there to covering local events and happenings in the world of comics and the like.
Its fun, no?

Miss Molly Hayes
The daughter of two villians belonging to Los Angeles own Pride, Molly, along with the other other Runaways escaped her heinous heritage to unleash LA from the Prides evil hold.
The only “official” mutant of her bunch, Molly is SUPER strong like the Hulk [err...She-Hulk] and with her array of cute little animal/chibi hats there’s no disliking this pint sized Rogue. The only downside to her mutant ability of super-strength is the super-nap she needs post-enemy distruction.
Baby sitter anyone?
Watch out for ALL CON next month in Dallas!!! Mutant A Day along with its contributors will be covering the event and hope to get lots of info and take down a wookie or two.to bed i mean. Grrrrr!
