DC and Lego Soaring into 2012!
Check out these images of some of the upcoming DC Universe Legos for 2012. I’m excited to see Superman and Wonder Woman featured in one of the sets, hopefully we will see more characters introduced into Lego form. This will definitely get us geared up for the video game Lego Batman 2 and maybe even another Lego super hero game.

Interviews: Kevin Sorbo LOVES Captain America
We caught up with Kevin Sorbo @ Wizard World Comic Con in Austin Texas to talk about super heroes! Did I mention how well the guy fills out a sweater? Enjoy!
Weekly Anticipation: Winter Bucky
Captain America and Bucky 624 is the finale of this re-telling of Bucky Barnes’ story since World War II by Ed Brubaker and Marc Andreyko and it was been a masterful character study into one of the most interesting heroes to emerge from modern superhero stories. I’m not quite certain how this and the other Captain America book fit into current continuity but this has been such a great look back and enriches the new Bucky/Winter Soldier history greatly.
New Guardians 3 seems like it’s really going to get the series off on its new direction, forcing the members of all the corps to join together against an emotionless Ganthet and the rest of the Guardians of Oa! We get more insight into how Larfleeze isn’t, uh, totally dead floating in space right now without his ring as well. This has been a fun crash course in Kyle Rayner-ness so far but has yet to really shine on its “nU” concept. Hopefully this issue amps up the possible amazingness.
Superman 3 will be the best book of the week if it can keep up the pace from issue 2 (though issue 1 was a bit of a let down for me). Mysteries abound that put our man of steel in a peril he can barely touch or see, let alone fight! I like the new angles being played with concerning Lois and Jimmy and the underwear-less costume for Big Blue is growing on me. All in all, I think I’m becoming a Superfan!
(The rest of my titles in this light week are Aquaman 3, Justice League Dark 3, Shade 2, Ultimate Comics Hawkeye 4 and Wolverine & The X-Men 2)

Man Of Steel Losing His Shirt!
Henry Cavill is looking good, hopefully he keeps the scruff, I’m totally in support of a scruffy Superman.

Weekly Anticipation: Trenchcoat & Dirk
Cloak & Dagger 3 is finally, finally getting the cover treatment it deserves! Unfortunately, it wraps around the unfortunate glory that is this series’ final issue. You guys, Emma Rios and Nick Spencer are 100% making my favorite comic here and I simply can’t stop recommending this little, limited series to anyone who likes sequential art. Digital or in person, you need to read this.
Wolverine & The X-Men 1 is the first post-Schism X-book to hit stands and is the one I have the highest hopes for. I love the X-Men in their Xavier school days and spinning that idea on its head a bit with a mixed up team and Wolverine leading the new Jean Grey Institute staff is right up my alley! A great creative team as this can only help matters further and anything that cohesively resets the Marvel mutant line is alright by me! Definitely one to check out.
Ultimate Comics Ultimates 3 means that drunken Tony Stark is on the way, to save the day! The Children of Tomorrow are being ~total jerks~ and the gods are falling from the skies in one frightening set of panels from last month’s comic. This one started out a little slow but came back with a killer second issue, looks like Jonathan Hickman hasn’t lost his magic yet! If you like the Ultimate Universe in any way, shape or form, you will like where this is headed now. Big changes in store for the Marvel UU!
(The rest of my titles for the week are All-Star Western 2, Angel & Faith 3, Aquaman 2, Avengers Academy 20, Avengers: Solo 1, Captain America & Bucky 623, The Fury of Firestorm: The Nuclear Men 2, New Guardians 2, Justice League Dark 2, Superman 2, Teen Titans 2 and The Walking Dead 90)

Build Your Way Into 2012 With DC and Marvel!
It was Recently announced at the 2011 SDCC that both DC and Marvel are going to release Lego sets based on their extremely popular characters. Here is a look at Thor, Hulk and Captain America from the Marvel side . Then from the DC side we have Batman, Joker, and the Green Lantern.
These are pretty cool but I’m still hoping to see the classic Lego mini figures where you build vehicles or buildings. Come on am I the only one that wants to build Superman’s Fortress of Solitude “wink”, Wonder Woman’s Invisible Jet, or even the legendary Asgard from Thor.

Weekly Anticipation: Miles Beyond the Rest
Ultimate Comics Spider-Man 2 keeps the Miles train rolling right along and what a start it was! Brian Michael Bendis sure knows how to write an empathic teen, doesn’t he? Miles’ family, context and environment are efficiently set up in issue one (seriously, it’s a beautifully done, speedy work of introductions) paving the way for his first real hero-ing in issue two. A scared but compassionate kid finding his way in the world against innumerable forces and foes. If that’s not Spider-Man, what is?
New Guardians 1 features Kyle Rayner and one representative from each of the 6 other light wielding corps on a mission from god. Or the Guardians. I’m mostly excited because I finally get to see my Indigo girls in an actual comics that’s (partially) based on their story! Kyle has had some of the most interesting stories as a Green Lantern (see the 90s) so with such a bizarre setup, the veteran creative team and him as the protagonist, I’m quite hopeful this will be another successful DCnU book right up there with Green Lantern Corps and all the rest.
Justice League Dark 1 features the mystics of Vertigo and DC protecting the world from threats not even the Justice League proper or International can handle! Dark, mystical powers, amazing characters with stellar runs on previous books (see the four Madame Xanadu trades from Vertigo for an example) and Peter Milligan bringing Constantine to the larger DC audience? Count me all kinds of in! The only reason this isn’t top of the list is that I’m worried the cast of characters will end up being too much for this kind of book and that we’ll lose out on development. Win or lose, it’s going to be one to check out for sure!
Man of Steel!
Warner Bros. Studios has released a few Man of Steel goodies the last few days. Yesterday it was announced Laurence Fishburne has been cast as Perry White. Then today this official image of Henry Cavill as Superman in Man of Steel was released. The casting has been pretty great especially Amy Adams as Lois Lane. That casting choice alone will have me at the theaters June 14, 2013 to watch Man of Steel.

DC and Lego Building Together!
Variety has announced that Warner Bros. and Lego have teamed up once again, to release a line of “Super Hero” play-sets and figures. Lego will have access to all of DC Entertainment’s catalog of characters and stories. The first Super Hero Lego’s will be shown off at the 2011 San Diego Comic Con, where 3,000 Batman and Green Lantern mini figures will be given away.
In January 2012 Lego will release 13 figures which include Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, Haley Quinn and Bane. Then later in the summer more merchandise will be released centering around the move The Dark Knight Rises.
I obviously want to see my favorite DC characters in Lego form, but I’m hoping that this will lead to a Lego Justice League game.
