The Tide is HOT; Alex González

Remember back in the day when MAD was all “That guy is HOT!”? Well welcome to back in the day with a bit o’ news shoved in there for good measure [whink]. 

Spanish actor Alex González has been cast in the role of Riptide in the new X-Men First Class movie! You guys may not remember Riptide as one of the original Marauders set up by Gambit via Mr. Sinister.

Riptide is your basic angsty long haired wind controler who is contstantly in the spandex. But who isn’t right? So  basically Alex is hot and thank god for some Latinos in an X Men franchise, am I right?!? VIVA LA RAZA! [Yeah I went there] Just as an added bonus Alex and I have the same birthday. I know how I’ll be celebrating! Check him out as Riptide in the new X Men First Class movie set to come out June 2011 & check out his web site AlexGlez for more pics and information!

Unless director Matthew Vaughn is planning on going all Speed Racer with the imagery, I find these costumes and make-up jobs sub par. It reminds me of the opening scene to the Power Rangers Movie where they are all skydiving into our hearts. [It was what it was, am I right?] I get that this is supposed to me mildly 60′s inspired, but even the White Queen can’t be THAT rediculous. [can she?] Here are more pics that seem less offensive.

White Queen Makes A Move In X-Men First Class!

January Jones has been cast as Emma Frost in the movie X-Men First Class.

  Alice Eve was originally to play the part but requested to be released from the role.  You may recognize Jones from the popular television series Mad Men, where she plays the character Betty Draper.  I think Jones is a great choice for the role, she definitely has the look of the White Queen.  With January Jones as Emma Frost and Kevin Bacon rumored to be Sebastian Shaw, one can only assume we will see the introduction of the Hellfire Club.

Evolution Of X-Men First Class!

Edi Gathegi has been cast to play the mutant Darwin in the movie X-Men First Class.  Darwin has the ability of reactive evolution allowing him to adapt to any environment or situation.  I think it will be cool to see Darwin on the big screen, but I’m afraid that this has the potential of turning into X-Men 3 all over again.

X Men 1st Class; Do I smell Bacon?

It seems that cramming as many seasoned actors into one movie is the way Matthew Vaugn is going with X Men 1st Class. Kevin Bacon is set to play an undisclosed villain opposite McAvoy and Fassbender [Xavier and Magneto] in the prequal set to come out in June of 2011. I would make some joke about six degrees of Kevin Bacon…but that would be more appropriate of it was another Spiderman movie. “Spiderman and the Sinister Six-Degrees-of-Kevin-Bacon. See what I did there?

Also nineteen year old Jennifer Lawrence of 2010 Winter’s Bone is set to play a young Mystique. With all of these mutants coming out of the woodwork it really is a gamble as to how this movie is going to be recieved by audiences. Not to get all uber bitch-matic but isn’t there already some time line issues here?
